The Beauty Awards 2019 with ASOS

A unique B2B and B2C awards programme, The Beauty Awards brings industry, consumers and celebrities together for an annual celebration of the best in the beauty world.

The jewel in Beauty Magazine’s crown, The Beauty Awards celebrates the latest and greatest products in UK retail beauty. Launched in 2001, the Awards were an industry-only event, bringing up to 250 people together each autumn. In 2016, the decision was made to open up the voting to the UK public – a move that has seen the Awards grow enormously. In May 2019 The Beauty Awards itself became the proud recipient of the Best Awards Event by a Publisher at the AwardsAwards.

For the first time this year, global online fashion and Face+Body retailer ASOS became the overall sponsor and event partner. Helping to propel the annual awards programme new heights, this successful partnership saw the Shortlist and Winners Showcases distributed to over 300,000 ASOS customers along with Beauty Magazine’s readership. Voting was hosted at and winning products received the amazing opportunity to pitch to ASOS’ beauty buying team. Over 250,000 votes were cast and almost 1,000 guests gathered at City Central at the HAC for a night of glitz and glamour hosted by Caroline Flack.

The Beauty Awards has cemented its position as the leading beauty event of the year, and a must-attend for the celebrity world too. The venue for The Beauty Awards 2020 with ASOS will be announced shortly. We hope to see you there!

Stage 1 - Entering
Brands enter in June, agreeing to participate in a 6-month period of activity designed to maximise exposure for their product the further it progresses in the competition. Each product undergoes rigorous testing by a minimum of three expert judges. The judges’ votes decide the shortlists.

Stage 2 - Voting
From early October to mid-November the voting platform is open. Publicity for brands that make the shortlist (a maximum of 8 products per category) is huge. The voting platform is hosted at – opening up voting to ASOS’ UK customer base. Shortlisted brands will also feature in Beauty Magazine’s Shortlist Showcase, distributed across the beauty retail sector as well as to ASOS customers. Brands can encourage their fans, followers and customers to vote too.

Stage 3: Celebrating
In November, guests arrive to a sea of flashing lights as they walk the red carpet. Celebrity spotting is the order of the day, with paparazzi from all the major media outlets lined up to capture the best pictures. Following a cocktail reception, our celebrity hosts announce the Award winners. In 2019 Caroline Flack conducted the evening’s proceedings and invited, amongst others, Ovie Sokie (Love Island), influencer Lewys Ball and singer/songwriter Tallia Storm to join her on stage to present the trophies. Rising R&B star Kara Marni wowed the audience and the after party rocked until 1am. All guests departed clutching a Goodie Bag, worth more than the price of their ticket!

Stage 4: The Christmas Sales and beyond
Coverage on the night and immediately following the event is impressive with social media going into overdrive. By combining activity by our media, third-party media, celebrities, brands and retailers, event amplification for the 2018 event was estimated to have captured 23-24 million online eyeballs.

In the first week of December, Beauty Magazine publishes its special Winner’s Showcase (print run 300,000), which will be distributed to ASOS customers – precisely timed to offer the consumer the best in beauty for Christmas. The beauty industry makes virtually all its profits in December - our programme is designed to fuel that. Furthermore, and new for 2019, all the Winners have the unique and exclusive opportunity to present their brand to the ASOS buying team!

The Beauty Awards has succeeded in bringing together the industry and its customers. The icing is the glitz of celeb and paparazzi, fuelling the excitement throughout for all participants. An innovative, rigorous and impactful programme, it provides unrivalled, cost-effective reach for beauty brands in this highly competitive sector.
