The Beauty Awards

A unique B2B and B2C awards programme, The Beauty Awards brings industry, consumers and celebrities together for an annual celebration of the best in the beauty world.

We are delighted to renew our partnership with ASOS Face + Body and excited to be able to celebrate with a physical awards event once again as we mark 20 years of The Beauty Awards.

The Beauty Awards celebrates the latest and greatest products in UK retail beauty. Launched in 2001 by Beauty Magazine, the Awards were an industry-only event, bringing up to 250 people together each autumn. In 2016, the voting was opened to the UK public – a move that saw the Awards grow enormously. In 2019, The Beauty Awards became the proud recipient of the Best Awards Event by a Publisher at the AwardsAwards.

Also in 2019, with ASOS, the global online fashion and Face+Body retailer, as the overall sponsor and event partner, the programme reached new heights:

• The Shortlist and Winners Showcases respectively were distributed to over 300,000 ASOS customers along with Beauty Magazine’s readership.
• Over 250,000 votes were cast for the Shortlisted brands at ASOS.com
• The Winners were celebrated at City Central at the HAC, with over 1000 people in attendance from our industry, the world of celebrity, and the national press. An estimated 23 million+ social media interactions took place in the 24 hours following this incredible evening of glitz and glamour.
• Winners received the amazing opportunity to pitch to ASOS’ beauty buying team, and a number of them are now in the process of being listed.

The Beauty Awards is firmly established as the leading beauty event of the year - and a must-attend for the celebrity world too.

Products enter in July, agreeing to participate in an 8-month period of activity designed to maximise exposure for their product the further it progresses in the competition. There are costs associated with each stage of the programme, and upon entering brand owners agree to those costs, which are billed in stages based on the success of the product as it progresses through the programme.

Stage 1 - Entering
Each product undergoes rigorous testing by a minimum of three expert judges. The judges’ votes decide the shortlists.

Stage 2 - Shortlisting, Voting & Celebrating
Once entries close the voting platform launches at ASOS.com, opening up voting to ASOS’ global customer base. Publicity for brands that make the shortlist (a maximum of 8 products per category) is huge.

Shortlisted brands also feature in Beauty Magazine’s Shortlist Showcase, distributed in print across the beauty retail sector as well as to 300,000+ ASOS customers. Brands encourage their fans, followers and customers to vote too.

Pandemic restrictions last year meant that instead of a physical event, winners were announced and celebrated with a unique 5-day Instagram event. For 2022 we are delighted to be able to once again celebrate in person at a glitzy awards ceremony and gala dinner, taking place in February 2022.*

At the event itself, guests arrive to a sea of flashing lights as they walk the red carpet. Celebrity spotting is the order of the day, with paparazzi from all the major media outlets lined up to capture the best pictures. Following a cocktail reception, our celebrity hosts announce the winners. In 2019 the late (and very much missed) Caroline Flack hosted the evening and invited, amongst others, Ovie Soko (Love Island), influencer Lewys Ball and singer/songwriter Tallia Storm to join her on stage to present the trophies. Rising R&B star Kara Marni wowed the audience and the afterparty rocked until 1am.

All guests depart clutching a Goody Bag, worth more than the price of their ticket!

Stage 3: Post-event promotion and pitching
Coverage on the night and immediately following the event is impressive, with social media going into overdrive. By combining activity by our media, third-party media, celebrities, brands and retailers, event amplification in 2019 was estimated to have captured over 45 million online eyeballs.

Once we have our Winners, Beauty Magazine publishes its special Winners' Showcase (print run 300,000), which will be distributed to ASOS customers.

Furthermore, all the Winners have the unique and exclusive opportunity to present their brand to the ASOS buying team!
