Superdrug announces Marketplace platform

Superdrug has signed over 200 brands to its new Marketplace platform, which is set to launch this month.

Designed to help remove listing barriers for innovators in the market and promote diversity within the industry, the new platform will see brands, from premium to start-ups, partner with Superdrug to offer their products through the service for the first time.

The platform will be seamlessly integrated on the existing Superdrug.com, providing customers with a smooth journey for purchasing products from both established brands and exciting new sellers.

Brands already signed up to the new Marketplace platform include breakthrough beauty brand WONDERSKIN, sustainable brand Truthbrush and inclusive ethical brand OPV Beauty.

As well as beauty brands, the retailer also has its eye on growing its offering across many of Superdrug’s already expanding categories, such as Kinks, Curls and Coils, and wants to embrace all the biggest wellness trends, with everything from wearables to health testing being considered.

The Superdrug Marketplace will bring undiscovered, innovative, affordable products to UK consumers for the first time, with a focus on growing trends like homegrown, female founded, sustainable and inclusive new brands.

eCommerce Director Matt Walburn, who is leading the development of Marketplace at Superdrug, says: “We have a long track record of supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses and promoting diversity and inclusion within the industry. Superdrug Marketplace is the logical next step for our business. As well as further strengthening our accessible health and beauty offering, it’s designed to help remove listing barriers for innovators in the market and provide hundreds of offline and online businesses with a flexible business opportunity and support they need to succeed in the digital world.”

Brands will be expected to meet the same high levels of customer experience that Superdrug shoppers are used to, with orders fulfilled through independent brands, salons and third-party retailers.

Brands looking to join the marketplace should contact Katherine.oldham@uk.aswatson.com.
