Face The Future extends SPF VAT burn

Following the success of the ‘366 Days of SPF’ campaign, online beauty retailer Face The Future has announced it will extend its VAT burn on products labelled as sunscreen until the end of August.

The campaign has been endorsed by MP Amy Callaghan in order to make sunscreen more accessible and affordable in the UK, with the brand urging the goverment to reconsider applied tax on SPF products. Face The Future reports that 64% of people in the UK find SPF to be expensive.

As SPF is a daily essential and should be strongly recommended for skin cancer prevention, the campaign therefore allows consumers to stock up on SPF essentials without the cost of VAT to make them more affordable in time for summer.

Since the start of the initiative, Face The Future reports a 120% rise in SPF sales, with sunscreen orders from new customers up by 160%. The brand also claims that there has been an 87% increase in repeat SPF purchases during the campaign.

Paul Thompson, Director at Face The Future, says: “We’ve had a huge response from our campaign and are delighted to see major retailers like Lookfantastic follow our lead and join the movement. As we head into the sunnier months, it is more important than ever to apply sunscreen everyday and if all beauty retailers could join forces and push the VAT Burn campaign as hard as possible, we can make sunscreen more affordable for everyone and increase daily protection across the board."

The extension to the campaign means that shoppers can enjoy tax free shopping on best-selling brands including Medik8, Heliocare, La Roche Posay, Dermalogica, EVY and more until the end of August.
