Avon Beauty has announced that all products from the brand, including cosmetics and personal care, have achieved Cruelty Free International’s Leaping Bunny certification.
The globally recognised programme marks products as cruelty-free, going above and beyond legal requirements. Avon is the first global cosmetics company to end animal testing of its products in all operating countries and the programme is an assurance to consumers that the brand has made a genuine commitment to help end animal testing.
The screening process included the rigorous review of over 8,000 raw materials, the implementation of a supplier monitoring system, supply chain checking and independent audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
Due to the huge scope of work, the brand took a phased approach; the Leaping Bunny approval was first received on products in the Fragrance, Avon Care and Anew ranges in Summer 2023.
Kristof Neirynck, Avon CEO, says: “After three decades of working toward ending animal testing for cosmetics, we’re proud to reach this milestone and become Leaping Bunny approved. This achievement reflects our belief that beauty should be cruelty-free across the board, and our long-standing commitment to make the world a better place for all.”
Cruelty Free International reports that whilst 80% of the world still allows animals to be used for testing, Leaping Bunny has seen a 111% increase in enquiries from brands signalling greater consumer demand for cruelty-free products which is driving change in the industry.
