LGFB spreads the magic of make-up

Cancer can rob a woman of her energy and strength, but with the support of Look Good Feel Better (LGFB), it need not take away her self-confidence. The charity provides invaluable practical support for women struggling with the side effects of their treatment and it changes the lives of many. But that’s not the only reason why we’re giving its brand new range of make-up brushes a huge “thumbs up”.

The new LGFB Anti-Bacterial Brush Set is now available from Marks &Spencer, and donations from the sales will enable LGFB to expand its fantastic programme of workshops and masterclasses. Hosted by volunteer beauty consultants, events pass on make-up tips and techniques, including help with eyebrow and eyelash loss, in a positive and uplifting way. In 2015 alone, 15,500 women and teenagers from across the UK benefited from a session.

Volunteer and help raise more funds

As its services expand, LGFB is always looking for new volunteers. If you’d like to pass on your knowledge at a workshop or masterclass, you’ll find more details here. All you need is a minimum of one year's experience in the cosmetics or beauty therapy and proficiency in the art of make-up application and/or skincare.

You can also help by taking part in one of LGFB’s many fun fundraising events, which run throughout the year. These range from obstacle courses to swims, runs, cycles and treks at some amazing venues. How do you fancy a Ben Nevis weekend in August, a trek along the Jurassic Coast in May or a Nuclear Rush in Essex? For more details of these types of events, visit the LGFB challenge events page. If they're a bit too strenuous for your taste, there are lots of other ways you can help raise funds. You'll find details on the LGFB website too.

In the meantime, you can help by spreading the word or purchasing a set of the new LGFB Anti-Bacterial Brushes. Each one is treated with a special non-toxic, hypoallergenic compound that helps keep harmful bacteria such as E. coli at bay. These bacteria can accumulate from cosmetic products, oils and dead skin cells, dirt from our hands, and they can cause problems such as exacerbating acne.

In clinical trials, the anti-bacterial treatment in the LGFB brushes was found to stop bad bacteria from taking hold and reduced the presence of E. coli by almost 100 per cent.

The new range has been developed by Bespoke Europe, the same company who earlier this year launched a range of 12 professional make-up brushes to support LGFB. This first set of brushes have been incredibly well received, and won the Best New Accessory accolade at the 2015 Beauty Awards.

A donation of between 8 and 12 per cent will be made to the charity from the sale of all brushes and Bespoke Europe has generously guaranteed a minimum donation of £30,000.

Featuring hand sculpted, super-soft taklon fibre bristles, the brushes are allergy-free, cruelty free and suitable for sensitive skin. High gloss weighted handles and chrome ferrules mirror the look, feel and performance of professional brushes and each one has an embossed brush name for easy reference.

The new LGFB Anti-Bacterial Brush Set includes a Large Multi-Tasking Brush, Round Foundation Brush, Eye Shading Brush and Lip Brush and retails at £35. To purchase, click here.
