Feelunique reveals top trends for 2020

Online beauty retailer Feelunique has revealed the beauty trends it predicts will be most popular in 2020.

Sustainability tops the list, according to Feelunique, with customers turning away from excessive packaging and unnecessary ingredients in favour of ethical products that don’t cost the Earth.

With searches for CBD up by +367% in 2019 thanks to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, soothing and smoothing properties, Feelunique predicts CBD will be one of 2020’s most sought-after ingredients.

Transparency is another buzzword for the coming year; with ambiguous ‘clean’ beauty brands cropping up across the industry, there has been an increasing focus on what actually goes into cosmetic products. Feelunique, in partnership with transparency and technology platform Evrelab, has launched Beauty Decoded, an innovative tool that analyses a product’s ingredient list and simplifies the data to highlight benefits and functionalities, backed up by scientific evidence and research.

Non-invasive, non-surgical ‘tweakments’ are another trend highlighted by Feelunique, on the back of research by the British Association of Plastic Surgeons that found that cosmetic operations have dropped by 40% since 2015. Think speedy treatments like microblading, skin peels and dermal fillers, and at-home devices offering spa-worthy results.

Brows are still big business and lamination looks set to be the outstanding trend over the coming year. This semi-permanent treatment creates perfectly full, brushed up brows for a feathery ‘boy brow’ finish.

Finally, Feelunique pinpoints blush contouring (aka draping) as a fresh, minimalistic new trend to sculpt the face. From buildable creams to liquid blushers, the result is softer and dewier than achieved with traditional contouring products.
