module menu icon What about wipes?

For customers who want to cut corners with facial wipes, Dr Anjali Mahto, consultant dermatologist and British Skin Foundation spokesperson, has this to say: €Facial wipes can cause irritation compared to a traditional rinse-off cleanser, particularly if there is a tendency towards eczema, sensitive skin or allergies.€

Dr Mahto also warns about a chemical called methylisothiazolinone (MI), which is thought to be responsible for an increasing number of allergies and can be found in many facial wipes. In fact, all of the experts we spoke to for this module agree that wipes are not the way to cleanse, although when in a fix or travelling, they are better than nothing.
