Giroud nets World Cup style hat-trick

French striker Olivier Giroud has scored a stunning hat-trick of style awards in a World Cup survey carried out by premium male grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge.

The Chelsea talisman was named as the most stylish footballer who will be playing in Russia this summer, as well as taking the titles for the best haircut and best beard.

Giroud, who moved across London to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal back in January, took 30% of the vote in the most stylish footballer category. Portuguese hotshot Cristiano Ronaldo took second place with 17%, closely followed by Spain’s Sergio Ramos (14%), French midfielder Paul Pogba (13%) and German defender Jérôme Boateng (6%).

Giroud’s performance in the best haircut category was even more impressive as he secured a whopping 40% of the public vote. Belgium’s unmissable Marouane Fellaini took second place on 14%, with Ronaldo (11%) third, Ramos (9%) fourth and England duo Harry Kane (8%) fifth and Adam Lallana (7%) sixth.

Giroud completed his hat-trick in style when he polled 33% for the best beard, edging out Argentina playmaker Lionel Messi who came in second on 22%. Ramos (14%), Nicolas Otamendi (12%) and Raheem Sterling (8%) completed the bearded top five.

Nick Gibbens, spokesperson for The Bluebeards Revenge, said he was not surprised with the findings of the survey. “Olivier Giroud is becoming renowned all over the globe for his super trendy haircuts, chiselled good looks and his all-round style. If the World Cup was played out on the Moscow catwalk then France would surely be bringing the prestigious trophy back to Paris.”

Tom Chapman, an award winning barber and educator, attributed the likes of Giroud to the growing acceptance of male grooming and the reason an increasing number of British men are visiting the barbershop.

“One of the most popular hair style requests I get from my clients is ‘the Giroud’ as well as whatever David Beckham is sporting at the time. It’s great to see footballers setting the trend for the latest cuts and the 2018 World Cup could be the most on trend yet even with the Italians missing out on a spot at the finals.”
