Rainbow Cosmetics wins Queen’s Award

Rainbow Cosmetics has been awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade in recognition of its significant and continued international growth over the three year period from 2013-15.

The Manchester-based family business has been developing influential beauty brands since 2002. The Rainbow Brands Division now owns the multi award-winning tanning brand Sunkissed; luxury bath and body gifting brand Style & Grace; quirky children’s cosmetics collection Tilly; and Q-KI, a range of cosmetics designed to capture the latest trends from the blogosphere, due to launch later this year.

Rainbow Cosmetics export sales soared by 141% from 2013 to 2015, reaching a total of 39 countries, while the Rainbow Brands Division has grown by 52% in the last five years as a result of investment and strategic planning.

Managing director Stephen Sharman says: “We are thrilled to have been recognised for the Queen’s Award. As an established family business operating in a competitive sector, it really underpins the commitment and success of our staff to continue to deliver innovation and customer service both in the UK and overseas.

Export sales continue to remain a key focus for the business, according to Sharman: “With exports being an increasingly important part of the business, our aim is to increase this to achieve 50% of branded sales through export business.”

John and Heather Sharman, Stephen’s parents, will attend Buckingham Palace to receive the Queen’s Award on behalf of the company later this year.
