Assistant beauty and perfume buyers for London’s Harrods store, Ruth Howlett and Rachel Hill, are to join eight other high flying women to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer by taking part in a sponsored sky dive. But that’s not there their challenge ends – Ruth and Rachel will have to raise £40,000 before their ‘jump day’ in June.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is helping in the fight against the breast cancer disease by developing new treatments, raising awareness and campaigning for better services for patients. Money raised by Ruth, Rachel and their fellow ‘birds’ will be spent on vital research, campaigning and education work by the charity.
This year’s ‘Breakthrough Booby Birds’ are a group of women from diverse industries who are united in their dedication to help realise their common goal of a future free from the fear of breast cancer. They join a prestigious roll call of past ‘birds’ from the corporate, commercial, beauty, and art worlds.
Ruth and Rachel commented: “As with so many women across the UK cancer has, in some form or another, touched our lives….When we first started to think about the jump, £40,000 seemed like an impossible target but we are determined to reach this goal. Too many women and their families suffer as a result of this devastating disease and we are so proud to play a part in beating it for good.”
