Hair raising times for the economy have translated into fewer visits to the hairdressers for women, with a four per cent drop between 2007 and 2011.
This is a great opportunity for manufacturers to capitalise on the change in consumer habits by offering more salon-quality styling solutions to use at home, according to research leaders Mintel. The rise in DIY styling is already being reflected in sales of electrical hair appliances, with Mintel forecasting growth of 18 per cent in sales between 2010 and 2015.
